I have a little work done but not posted. Things are a wee bit hectic around here right now. My kids are all home from school for spring break, plus extra company at the house this weekend. Will get caught up in a day or two.
Just a little idea I’m working on.
I forgot to post! Sorry all. I got up early yesterday and knocked my sketches out first thing. Then I got busy and completely forgot to post my sketches before bed. I did two, as promised. I learned that I need to spend more time figure drawing. And more time inking figures and deciding how to describe them. Lots of research and homework to do. I will post another sketch tonight that I did today.
Here is my finished skelly from yesterday. Wish I could say I got more accomplished today. Up too late last night. Up early this morning. Had just about enough energy to make it to the gym today. (My other passion is weight lifting!) I’ve been mentally comatose most of the day. I will make it up tomorrow with an extra sketch.
Day 6 and I’m on a roll. Was wondering if I was going to make it though. The hours kept slipping by while I was screwing around on social media. Then the kids hijacked my computer. I didn’t get started on this until they were all in bed this evening. Even then I wasn’t sure what I was going to draw. When in doubt draw a skull. That’s my motto anyway. I like the direction this one is going in. Sadly, it is now midnight. I have to get up early with the kids. Also when I start getting tired I start making mistakes. Best to leave off now and work on it tomorrow with fresh eyes.
Happy Sunday noon, my people. I am having a really awesome day today. Hope you are as well. Got some art in early today. Yesterday I watched the film The Temple , which got horrible reviews and I loved it. I am totally not above loving a terrible horror movie. I thought that one had pretty good atmosphere, and not one head of stringy black hair hanging down in their faces. Anywho, this was my inspiration for today’s art- sumi ink painting. I wanted to do something to loosen up my brushwork and focus on some mark making. I have a tendency to get really tight so I have to work towards being expressive and loose. Which is something I find that helps build atmosphere and texture in artwork. If you want to learn how to do sumi ink/ watercolor Henry Li has some good videos on YouTube.
I feel kinda like I cheated today because the only thing I got done was finishing the drawing from yesterday. I intended to do a Japanese-style ink drawing but the hubs wants to watch a movie and go to bed. Busy day. Park with the kids and a barbecue. More art time tomorrow!
This chainmail was time consuming, and not the easiest thing to draw. I think I did ok(ish). I used to be in the Society For Creative Anachronism, and actually learned how to make chainmail. That really does take forever. It occurred to me that if you made a comic and had to draw many panels of a character who wore chainmail armor you better allow plenty of time to get it done. Hope you guys like the finished product. My son is very enthusiastic about this one. He loves knights.
I have been working on this for a few hours now. It’s going on midnight and I still have all that chainmail to finish. Sadly, I have to call it because tomorrow is my husband’s sleep in morning, so I am up with the kiddos (please let them sleep in past 6am!) by myself. Didn’t want you guys to think I flaked out by day 3.
My Daughter’s boyfriend asked me to do a scorpion. I don’t think I have ever drawn a scorpion before. Not sure if pleased or not. But here it is, my completed ink sketch (pen). I almost posted it half finished because it is well late, I am exhausted and have to be up early. Deadlines though, right?
It starts- draw something daily and post it. After my Jason sketch yesterday my friend Sharri asked me to do a Michael Meyers.
